What’s Mine Is Yours

There are already several forms of social media that have increased collabaritive consumption in many places. Rachel Botsman’s article, What’s Mine Is Yours, in the chapter on collabaritive design she went on to show the impact that these various social media sites are having on our culture.

RelayRides, a site founded by Shelby Clark, showed the progress that is being made in the increase in collabaritive design to help further collabaritive consumption. The sites main goal is to decrease the amount of of cars bought, and to increase the comfort that individuals have allowing others to drive their car, and increasing the comfort that the renters have in the car they are using.

Ideas like these are really benefiting our society. Collabative consumption is a great way to cut down on a lot of unused materials. And the only to continue to increase the amount of collabaritive consumption is to continue to increase the amount of ideas that are being thought of everyday. That is why collabaritive design is growing to be such an important aspect of our society’s growth.

Having such a diverse industry with the new phase of collabaritive consumtption is potentially going to boost the economy. With people being able to keep money in their pockets for things they choose to consume collabaritivaly will allow them to spend that extra money on other goods that they would like to purchase. Being able to say what is mine is yours is a great step in creating a more united country.
